EVER HEAR THIS JOKE BEFORE?
“In our home…my wife takes care of all minor decisions. “
“I take care of all major decisions – like
- “Do we remove cars from EDSA?”
- ”Peace in the Middle East”
- “Should we import Cadmium from South Africa?”
A laugh follows this.
But usually, the speaker never clarifies that it’s a bad joke.
I’m guessing MEN THOUGHT IT WAS SMART.
After all, “Happy Wife = Happy Life.” Right?
So must men LET THE WIVES DO ALL THE DECIDING?”
It seems so.
Because if you ask a wife – they would usually say “YES, I WANT YOU TO SAY YES TO MY DECISIONS.”
HOWEVER…
Isn’t it also true the wives say this in their heads:
“I really wish my husband would lead this family, instead of me, I’m so tired THINKING OF EVERYTHING…”
WOMEN —Reply if you agree with me. or disagree!
Fathers, let me show you AN EXAMPLE OF HOW YOU CAN BE THE BEST HUSBAND:
QUIETEST MENTOR EVER
St Joseph is the quietest Father figure we have.
There are no records of him speaking.
Though I’m sure he did.
We have statues of him sleeping because in that sleep – the ANGELS talked to him.
But more than sleeping…there are records of all that action:
- Spiriting away “takas” Baby Jesus and Mary away to Egypt – multi-week travel with no advanced prep!
- Starting a new life for years in Egypt – no work, no relatives, no house, no friends, etc
- Living the day-to-day life in Egypt as a stranger family in a strange land.
- Moving back to Israel after the coast is clear. Another long journey.
- Setting up a Carpenter’s Job in a new place (Nazareth) after the Egypt “OFW” episode.
- Protecting the family from the gossip of families who’ve heard of “having a child” / “virgin,” etc.
- Looking for Jesus for 3 days alongside Mary when Jesus was in the temple…
Then, he disappeared from the Gospel accounts when Jesus started his public ministry.
WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM THIS?
Fathers take action.
Fathers don’t complain about difficult things.
Fathers don’t complain about small, complicated things.
Fathers don’t complain about big, complex things.
Fathers = Action, Action, Action
Father says, “Watch me do it – so you know how!”
BUT HOW?
You’re simply weak without the GRACE OF GOD.
So, how do we get this GRACE?
How much will it cost you?
It will cost you HUMILITY.
Because you need to ASK FERVERENTLY (Parang may “fever”)
Ask God for Grace.
That’s it.
