Why the Best VAs Deliberately Ignore 90% of Client Requests (And Make More Money Doing It)

  • Jomar Hilario Jomar Hilario

Specialists charge 3x more than generalistsThe client who needs "everything" pays for nothing
Your brain can only master a few things deeply
The millionaire VAs I know:

Do 3 things maximum
Say "no" to 80% of requests
Refer out work they can’t do exceptionally
Harsh truth: If you’re learning something new every month, you’re avoiding the hard work of mastering what you already know.

Contrarian Truth #3: Price Objections Mean You’re Talking to the Right Person
What scared VAs do: Lower their prices when someone says "That’s expensive"

What confident VAs understand: Price objections are buying signals, not rejection.

The psychology behind it:

Cheap clients never object to price (red flag)
Serious buyers always negotiate (normal)
"It’s expensive" means "convince me it’s worth it"
The response that changes everything: "You’re right, it is expensive. Here’s why…"

Then explain the cost of NOT solving their problem.

The Counterintuitive Success Pattern
After 16 years, I’ve noticed the VAs who make the most money break every "rule":

Instead of: Being available 24/7 They: Set strict office hours and stick to them

Instead of: Taking every project They: Turn down 70% of inquiries

Instead of: Trying to please everyone They: Fire bad clients regularly

Instead of: Competing on price They: Raise their rates every 6 months

The Brutal Math Nobody Talks About
Popular advice: "Start low and build up" Reality check: Most VAs who start at $5/hour are still there 2 years later.

Why? Your first price trains the market how to treat you.

The clients who pay $5/hour:

Expect instant responses
Micromanage everything
Leave bad reviews over minor issues
Never refer quality clients
The clients who pay $50/hour:

Respect your time
Trust your expertise
Become long-term partners
Refer other premium clients
Your first client sets the trajectory for your entire career.

Your Uncomfortable Action Step
Look at your last 10 client inquiries.

Ask yourself: "Am I attracting the clients I want, or the clients I think I deserve?"

If you’re getting tons of inquiries but they’re all low-budget, your messaging is working perfectly…

For the wrong audience.

The industry I accidentally started rewards the rebels, not the rule-followers.

AI gave moms spiritual advise…

  • Jomar Hilario Jomar Hilario

The AI gave advisc to Moms about Spiritual Wellbeing. Here’s what it said + my take.

AI SAID TO MOMS:

1. Greet Jesus first.
Start your day with a whisper: “Walk with me, Lord.”

2. Pray while you work.
Offer each chore as a prayer of love.

3. Let go of guilt.
Confess. Forgive. Breathe again.

4. Honor Sundays.
Go to Mass. It’s your soul’s refill day.

My Take on this Spiritual Advice (Talking to Christians here – using the peg that AI used above)

1. This is a start. But
✅ to give proper justice to God…
✅ to live a full day
✅ to not live like a "poor" (winkwink) Christian…

Give prayer+spiritual books+bible+silence – 15minutes minimum per day.

"But I don’t have 15 minutes!" –is an excuse you have relied on for a long time.
"This is why you fail.", sabi ni Yoda.

You would think the 15 minute is for God right?

Yes you are right. But it’s also for you.

2. Pray while you work is possible if you have a lot of memorized prayers.

You can do a continuous "Hail Mary" when doing manual tasks.
I wake up to this – repeatedly.
If doing mental tasks – like budgetting –
You can turn on some
✅Gregorian chant,
✅Latin songs (Salve Regina, not Selena or Despacito)
✅Canto Catolico (all their songs are pretty, mom!).

They’re not in english so your brain will NOT be busy interpreting them. You can still compute and think.
This is just level 1. To make every effort at prayer, start with the sign of the cross and ask for grace to make it happen. It will take decades to develop this. Most will not.

3. To let go of guilt – you’ll need to do a good confession vs a bad confession.

Your first job is to know the difference.
Most American (hence AI content) think Catholics are all about the guilt. This is popculture nonsense.
We’re all about the
✅ the agape love
✅ the latria worship (I’m sure I got that mixed up).

We crave unity with God – hence we want to confess so we’re in the state of grace. "Not being guilty" is NOT the goal. Unity is the goal.
Whoever said "Catholic guilt" is because they continue to commit the same sins even after confessing them for many years.
Now you know what a bad confession is.

4. Go to Mass. Sunday is not a refill day.

Many people and AI think that "Sunday is for me to get ‘recharged’, sit back and relax.
However, every day God pours – not drips – graces.
You may just be too busy to notice.
Going to mass is not a refill. It’s justice to God.
Why? "Giving God what is Due To God. = worship"
Mass is the official worship a CATHOLIC can do.
You can say "This song I composed is my worship." Words are cheap. Feast Worship.
But the book called "The Cathechism of the Catholic Church" doesn’t say anything can be worship.
Only the offering of Jesus in the mass is worship. All others are "not worship". Devotion, offering, etc but not worship.
If you’re a Catholic Mom, make sure the kids understand this.
And that’s AI vs my take.

It’s your turn to INCREASE!
