‘ve been asked to assist with social media posting for my church, to take some of the burden off the PCC and reach people who may not know we exist. So far, this involves a Facebook page, although may branch out into other platforms. We’re a traditional Anglo-Catholic church in Yorkshire, England.
Any tips? Pitfalls to avoid? (I get the feel we’re going for dignified and respectful, so I’ll keep my spicy memes and theological hot takes to myself)

Consistency beats complexity — One well-made post per week goes further than 5 rushed ones.
Use templates — We use Canva Pro for Teams so all our Sunday readings, saint quotes, and livestream promo posts follow a clean, branded style. Really helps people recognize us in their feed.
Assign roles — If others might help you later, a team Canva setup lets each person log in with their own account but still access the same media and templates. Keeps things tidy.
Watch the tone — Dignified and reverent posts actually perform well, especially if paired with beautiful visuals. We try to keep things calm, hopeful, and prayerful.
Pitfalls to avoid:
Over-explaining theology in posts — Save the deep stuff for homilies or blog links.
Using blurry or poorly cropped images — Invest in clear visuals, or again, grab from Canva’s huge image library (bonus: they even have Filipino church-style art which I love).
Forgetting mobile users — Most folks see the posts on phones. Keep text short and images high contrast.

I Got Suspended by Facebook. Here’s the Full Story.

I got an “Action Needed” letter from Facebook.
Which is code for: “You’re suspended now. Good luck.”
Zero access. To my FB groups. To FB messenger chats — family, old friends, old classmates. To FB pages. To all those photos and videos. Gone.
Poof. No warning. No chance to fix it.
They asked for a selfie — a smiling one. I sent it. They said, “24 hours and we’ll get back to you.”
That was a week ago.
Nothing.
The appeal system is broken. Broken on purpose? Maybe.
This is what hell looks like, by the way.
Tech hell. Emotional hell. Marketing hell.
You can call it oppression.
“Oppre” — Let me geek out.
In Star Wars, they had a villain named Darth Maul. “Maul” means to violently destroy you.
Maul’s secret brother?
Sauvage Oppress. Taken straight from “Savage” and “Oppress.”
Not a coincidence. They know what they’re naming.
You say: “Jomar, we don’t need a story. We know what oppression means.”
But do you?
It happens to you every day.
When your HOA raises dues 100% — no explanation.
When your kid’s school gives requirements so complex, you end up doing it.
When your boss micromanages your every move, kahit maaga mo sinubmit lahat. No praise. Just pressure.
That’s oppression too.
But the worst kind? Demonic Oppression.
In California, there lie the headquarters of the world’s richest companies.
Each campus? Has angels. Each campus? Has demons too.
One of them, with a blue logo, proudly runs your feed.
It decides what makes you jealous today.
It shows your friend in Bali. Your coworker with a new car. Your batchmate launching a business.
It’s oppression wrapped in “inspiration.”
Now… back to my story.
The FB “attack” happened 2 days before I returned to running workshops.
Yes, after 5 years.
This was a 3-day workshop, priced like two. Did you miss it? Too bad. But I’ve attached Day 3 Meeting Notes (PDF) — in case you want to catch up.
What’s different this time?
I added Saints and Virtues into website-making topics. I coded a few apps and bots just for the students.
They didn’t even notice. They just worked. Well, except for the bots. Those were born from a confused comment by Atty K. She was right — so I made an extra one.
Now I ask: If you’re not using bots or AI — why not?
If you’re not building apps — HULI KA NA. Your service is “old na.” Take it from someone old. Haha!
Now here’s the eerie part.
Between 2020 and 2025, I had no workshops. Facebook could’ve suspended me anytime.
But they didn’t.
In fact, they gave me money — a grant!
But now that I restart my workshop — boom. Suspension.
Calculated?
Maybe. To rattle me. To distract me.
But…
I Wasn’t Bovvered.
Because my Hope isn’t in a social media platform.
It’s in my God.
We’ve prayed the Rosary daily as a family for 4 years now. Lower appetites — tamed. Irritating sins — being cleaned up (ongoing!).
God runs the show.
And worrying is a sin.
Now… it’s your turn.
Your turn to INCREASE.
Your turn to have a backup.
Don’t wait till Facebook locks you out. Don’t say, “Sayang, I should’ve started my email list!”
